About me

I have been working as a freelance translator and interpreter since 1999, after obtaining a degree as a conference interpreter at the Modern Languages High School for Interpreters and Translators in Forlì. My mother tongue is Italian and my working languages are English and German. In 2005 I became an ordinary member of AITI (Italian association of interpreters and translators). I offer my customers a complete and well-prepared service, thanks to collaboration with various colleagues with specialisations and working languages which are different from mine. Field work and regular refresher courses are essential factors in ensuring competency, coupled with linguistic and IT resources to provide quality at a consistently high level. Belonging to various mailing lists, forums and databases for interpreters and translators also enables me to keep in constant touch with other colleagues.

Qualifications

Degree in Interpreting issued by the Modern Languages High School for Interpreters and Translators of the Bologna University of Studies, Forlì branch. Member of AITI (Italian association of interpreters and translators), ERICA (www.gruppointerpretierica.it) and TradInFo (www.tradinfo.org).

Education

1992: Diploma in Business Studies and Foreign Languages Correspondence;

1995: Diploma as Interpreter and Translator and Foreign Language Correspondent issued by the Modern Languages High School for Interpreters and Translators of the Bologna University of Studies, Forlì branch;

1998: Degree in Interpreting issued by the Modern Languages High School for Interpreters and Translators of the Bologna University of Studies, Forlì branch. Thesis in English Linguistics: “Simultaneous English into Italian Interpretation: Comparison of Self- and External Assessments”.

Experience

7 years of experience as translator/proofreader and conference/negotiation interpreter with over 2 million words translated and over 300 days of interpreting.

Interests

Right from compulsory schooling days I had a strong passion for languages. I have developed this all through my education and during my leisure time too, until it became my profession. My inborn curiosity, a natural talent for interpersonal communication, an interest in different cultures and the love of travel have all been determinant factors in this choice. I have spent long periods abroad (United Kingdom, USA, Germany, Austria, Spain) for study and work, which have enabled me to expand on my linguistic and cultural knowledge and also experience all kinds of jobs. During my leisure time I like to read books, magazines and newspapers in foreign languages, to watch films in their original language and listen to music. Other interests are cycling and swimming. My hobbies also include information technology and photography.
